Rockin’ America’s Heroes Festival: Feb 28th and 29th 2020

February 28 @ 6:00 pm - February 29 @ 12:00 am CST

ROCKIN’ AMERICA’S HEROES ANNUAL FESTIVAL

The Valkyrie Initiative Sponsorship Packet for Silsbee-2020

SERVING AMERICA’S HEROES

Military, Law Enforcement, Firefighters and
Paramedics/EMTs.

Less than 1% of American citizens choose to answer the call to put on a uniform. They do so out of love of country and a deep desire to take care of others. Whether it be service in the Armed Forces as a Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine or Coast Guardsman, or service to neighbors and family as a Police Officer, Firefighter or Emergency Medical Professional, these unique men and women make the commitment to go towards danger, rather than away from it.

The Valkyrie Initiative, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping our nation’s heroes. Our exceptional team of professionals – ranging from dedicated civilians to Veterans with a tour of service, to retired law enforcement personnel – has gathered to help Veterans, First Responders and their families. We focus on reintegration and decompression from downrange, while encouraging the best use of the warrior mentality and skills.

PLEASE SUPPORT THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN SO MUCH

Rockin’ America’s Heroes Festival: February 28-29, 2020

Please consider sponsoring The Valkyrie Initiative’s annual celebration – Rockin’ America’s Heroes which will be held at Honky Tonk Texas, in Silsbee, Texas Feb 28 (6pm-12am) & 29 (10am-12am), 2020. This annual celebration of the men and women who have given so much to all of us, include a multitude of Veteran entertainers, informative displays, family activities, and much more. The event will include a drawing for a variety of gifts, ranging from promotional giveaways to special events/vacations. Our heroes deserve your support!

To learn more about The Valkyrie Initiative, please go to www.facebook.com/TheValkyrieInitiative/.

The Valkyrie Initiative mission is executed by a dedicated team of professionals who have worn the uniform of a war-fighter or First Responder, or are civilians with a desire to support those who have served. Led by retired Federal Special Agent Sheila L. Stephens and Willis Parr, retired US Navy FMF Corpsman Veteran. Our team works diligently to ensure every single donated dollar is used to best benefit our country’s heroes. Your generous donation will have a direct impact on our uniformed professionals, past and present, giving hope to those who deal with issues of reintegration, while  debunking the myth of the broken Veteran.

A MISSION OF HONOR

Serving Those Who Go Towards the Fight

The Valkyrie Initiative provides a variety of vital services including job and life skills training; recreational and animal therapy; use of the latest research-based modalities addressing stress reduction and issues common to high stress, high danger occupations; and Epigenetic testing and nutritional counseling which rounds out the mind/body approach for optimal performance gains.  Our other priority projects include:

  • American Warrior Journal: A powerful book series of stories by America’s heroes – our Veterans, First Responders, and those who love them. The fourth book in the American Warrior Journal series includes detailed Veteran and First Responder support resources found throughout the country.
  • Battle Cry: Songs of America’s Heroes: An incredible CD comprised of songs by Veteran entertainers and family members. Many of these songs will be performed during our upcoming Rockin’ America’s Heroes event on Feb 28-29, 2020. These powerful songs show the world the strength of our warriors as they push through the challenges of reintegration.
  • The Valkyrie Initiative “Wheelchairs for Heroes” Program: We provide chairs to Veterans and First Responders who have difficulty obtaining them otherwise or who are caught in the long wait for Veteran services.

RESPONDING TO THE NEED

Our Country’s Heroes Need a Mission, Focus and Purpose

Most Americans do not realize that the suicide rate among U. S. military personnel has continued to rise at an alarming rate, across all branches of the Armed Forces, and is now the second leading cause of death of our warfighters.  According to the Department of Defense (DoD), the rate of military personnel taking their own lives since Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), has more than doubled and is well beyond the general population rate. The effects of suicide are devastating to family, friends, and communities.

In many cases, the cause of suicide can be tied the lack of a clear mission, the loss of identity earned as a uniformed professional, or the stress and guilt associated with being a survivor when others didn’t make it. The Valkyrie Initiative works with our country’s heroes to give them a renewed sense of purpose – both for themselves and in honor of lost brothers and sisters – through a variety of programs and special events. Research reveals that the human brain “rewires” itself to react in dangerous and traumatic situations for protection of the organism (the body) and assurance of its survival. After multiple deployments or years on the street, the brain’s wiring can become a hyper-overreaction to situations in the home environment, resulting in hyper-vigilance with all body alerts responding. This is not abnormal in a war zone, or on our streets at home for First Responders. However, when it interferes with daily functioning at home, this hyper alertness that worked so well under former conditions, is no longer helpful for some in the new environment. Just as our mind/bodies are wired for these reactions during danger and trauma, it is possible to re-wire the brain for the home environment. This can be done without changing who the warrior is while managing this vigilance to prevent a constant state of adrenaline exhaustion.
